Frequently Asked Questions
What does the initial evaluation look like?
First, schedule your complimentary discovery call to determine if we are a good fit. If we are, we will send you the intake forms and schedule the initial evaluation. Discovery Call: Ask questions and learn more about Body & Brain. Tell us your story and what you would like to accomplish. Initial Evaluation: 60-minute in-person at the office. Here, we complete the subjective portion. We continue to gather your story, go over your intake form, hear your goals and motivations, and delve deeper into your history. We then move into the postural, movement, and gait screen. Followed by a hands-on assessment with possible treatment. Ending with home guidance, summary of findings, and next steps.
What can I expect at an appointment?
Everyone’s experience varies. Treatments can feel relaxing, deep, heavy, grounding, freeing, and lead to a deeper connection to yourself and your emotions. Each session is one-on-one with Christina. They can be 60, 90, or 30 minutes long. Virtual appointments are available for specific treatment sessions. Most sessions incorporate integrative manual therapy. Educational and coaching components, and time for self-discovery often accompany them. Manual therapy can also be paired with frequency-specific microcurrent (FSM). FSM feels like light tingling or pins and needles, sometimes barely felt. Damp towels or electrode pads are placed around the treatment area to allow current to be transmitted through the specific location. Sensations after the session vary from individual to individual and from session to session. You may feel more sensitive, more energized, extremely fatigued, or anything else, before feeling back together again. Some changes are felt immediately or the next day, while others are felt days later.
Do you do hands-on-work?
Yes, Christina is an integrative manual therapist. CranioSacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, and Neural Manipulation may be used. A targeted light-touch is used while listening and connecting with the tissues and structures. Each session is tailored to address various areas of the body.
Do you accept insurance?
No. We are out-of-network with all insurance plans and are non-participating with Medicare. In most cases, we can generate a superbill and provide supporting documentation for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Body & Brain has chosen not to take insurance so that they can better serve you in the following ways: •More one-on-one time •More personalized attention •More freedom to address multiple issues at the same time •More freedom to address the root cause of the problem •More flexible scheduling •A stronger patient-provider relationship Your health is worth it. In the long run, it may not be as expensive as it seems: •Some insurance companies reimburse. •Fewer sessions are needed at once. With longer, more precise treatments, sessions typically start weekly and gradually reduce to biweekly, monthly, or as needed. •The amount and frequency of sessions are not dictated by insurance; you can come in on your terms. •Healing takes a community of support. Use Body & Brain alongside your other health appointments without any third-party limitations.
How many visits will I need?
It varies from person to person and the types of treatments they need. For many patients, treatment sessions initially occur once a week for a month, then reduce to once a month or as needed. Another example is that it may occur once every 4 to 6 weeks. We will create a plan together of what works best for you. Or drop in when you feel like you need a tune-up.
